造花に刺繍を施した「Dream time」は、オーストラリアの先住民族アボリジニの物語や伝説、神話である「ドリームタイム」にインスパイアされています。ドリームタイムは民族ごとに口伝えで受け継がれています。このコンセプトを基にして、命のない造花に刺繍を施し、新たな命を吹き込むことで、美しい異次元の世界を表現します。
動物や植物など230種のモチーフを用いて、かつて存在したかもしれない生命体を立体的に再現した清川の絵本の「もうひとつの場所」の原画をもとに新しい神話と生命の世界を創り上げます。これにより、新しい生命体を描き出し、人間と自然の関係を見つめ直すきっかけを提供します。

陶芸作品「Dream Pod」シリーズは、清川あさみの立体プロジェクトで、絶滅した美しい動植物をテーマにしています。陶芸家の宮下サトシとコラボレーションし、陶芸と刺繍の植物を組み合わせた立体作品です。

In the work Dream time, the artist has added embroidery to artificial flowers, inspired by the “dreamtime” of Australia’s indigenous people, and by their stories, legends and mythologies. Different Aboriginal tribes pass dreamtime down through the generations by word of month. Underpinned by this concept, Kiyokawa uses embroidery to breathe new life into lifeless artificial flowers, depicting a beautiful world that exists in a different dimension.
Kiyokawa’s work is based on her drawings in the picture book Mou hitotsu no basho [another place] in which she created 230 different images of plants and animals—forms of life which may have existed once upon a time. For the Dream Pod series, she creates a world of new mythologies and forms of life in three-dimensions. The resulting depiction of new forms of life encourages us to reexamine the relationship between humans and nature.

The Dream Pod series of ceramic works is a three-dimensional project by Kiyokawa, the theme of which is beautiful plants and animals that are now extinct. Collaborating with ceramicist Miyashita Satoshi, she produces sculptural works that combine ceramic forms with embroidered plants.
